Michiel de Cleen (born Amsterdam,1962) graduated from the Dental School of the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands) in 1988. From 1988 until 1995 he was an assistant professor at the department of Cariology & Endodontology at ACTA (Academic Centre of Dentistry Amsterdam, The Netherlands).

He is currently in private practice, limited to endodontics, in Amsterdam. Besides his clinical activities, he is editor-in-chief of the popular Dutch dental journal Tandartspraktijk, lecturer on all aspects of endodontics and dental traumatology both nationally and internationally, co-author of the Dutch text book Endodontologie and editor of the Dutch translation of Managing endodontic failure in practice (Quintessence, 2005.)
