What can the Operating Microscope bring to your practice?


This course is intended for the dentist who would like to start working with the microscope.
The aim of this hands-on course is to inform you about the Operating Microscope’s benefits. Firstly, you will learn how to work with the microscope and see how useful it is in daily procedures. Secondly, you will experience how this microscope can lead to a different diagnosis.
At the end of the course you know what impact the Operating Microscope has in Dental Practice and we will give you tips about how to set up and start working with the microscope.

Curriculum vitae W.J. van Driel

Walter Johan (WJ) van Driel, is an accredited specialist in Endodontics. Born on June 26th 1959 in Eindhoven, Holland he is a graduate from the Dental College at the University of Amsterdam where he studied between 1977 and 1984. 

After his graduation Walter was an associate of the profession group; cariology, endodontology and pedodontology until 1987 where he earned qualifications in endodontics specifically.

In 1985 he became an university teacher at the General Clinic of ACTA (Acedemic Centre Dentistry Amsterdam) within the department cariology and endodontology in additition to practicing in a referral dental clinic.

In 1997 Walter was appointed university lecturer within the department cariology, endodontology and pedodontology (CEP) of ACTA where, until 2005 he was heading education of both the postgraduate as well as doctoral courses in endodontics. In addition, Walter also gave postgraduate courses in endodontics to dentists on behalf of the CEP department.

Since 1994 Walter held various functions within NVvE, (Dutch Association of Endodontics) including being appointed President, a role he held between 1997 – 2000. Subsequently, for a period of five years Walter became Editor in Chief for Het Kanaal, the official newsletter of NVvE published 4 times yearly. 

Walter is also a member of various scientific clubs including being a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD) since 2000.

Within the Dutch Dentistry Society (NMT) Walter has been active in various focus groups. The most important of these was the Project Group for Endodontic Tariffs (PTE). Amongst others, a significant result was a tariff for the use of microscope handling within endodontic treatment – a unique way of working for Europe.

Walter has in parallel held a referral Practise specialised in Endodontics since 1985, currently in Sassenheim - based in the province South Holland.
